Illnesses linked to slivered onions on McDonald's Quarter Pounder burgers expand to 14 states, federal officials say.

E.coli linked to slivered onions on some McDonald's Quarter Pounder burgers in America has caused 104 people to become ill, according to US health officials.The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) said in an update on Wednesday that 34 people had been hospitalised in connection to the outbreak and that one man had died in October.

A deadly E. coli outbreak connected to slivered onions served in McDonald's Quarter Pounder hamburgers across the country has sickened at least 104 people, federal health officials said.

Of those who have fallen ill, 34 were hospitalized; four people developed HUS, a condition that causes kidney failure; and one person died.

Health officials said the source of contamination was likely slivered onions served on Quarter Pounder burgers.
